B.S., Adams State University

Karen Teal joined Miller School of Albemarle in July 2023. She is originally from Severn, Maryland and has lived in Colorado and New Jersey before settling in Virginia in 2003. 

Karen has a B.S. in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology, Wildlife, and Botany and a minor in Chemistry from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. While at Adams, Karen was the president of Circle K International, a community service organization, a member of the Marching Grizzlies playing flute and piccolo, and a Resident Assistant. 

After 12 years in Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Assistant / Inventory Manager, Karen made a career change into public school education as the registrar at Madison County High School to be able to work with students again as she had previously as a substitute teacher and parent helper. She enjoys spending time with her two adult children, volunteering, traveling, reading, and attending films and theatrical performances.
